Help and FAQ
What file types are supported for TSPOTA log submission?
ADI/ADIF files are supported for TSPOTA log submission. No other file types are supported at this time.
What fields are required in my ADI/ADIF file?
In addition to the standard QSO fields (qso_date, time_on, call, freq, mode, station_callsign) the following fields below are required. All POTA loggers will add these fields, so if you are already using an app like HAMRS, ACLog, or PoLo you're all set.
my_sig_info is required for every activator QSO. This field indicates the activated park identifier.
sig_info is required for every hunter QSO and for every activator Park to Park QSO. This field indicates the park that was worked.
Special Note for Activators: In some cases the the my_sig_info field may not be in the log, like in wsjtx logs, so as long as the log file name is named [callsign]@[park-id].adif (example: KE5CW@US-3051.adif) the online log uploader will fall back to using the park-id in the filename. Also, if for some reason the station_callsign field is missing, the callsign from the log file name will be used.
Note: Even if you use the log file name in place of the my_sig_info field, the sig_info will still need to be present for any park to park credit and for all hunter QSOs. The comment field (like in WSJTX logs), and APP_N1MM_EXCHANGE1 field (found in the N1MM udc adif log) will also be evaluated for worked park data as an alternative to sig_info.
Using the N1MM+ TSPOTA User Defined Contest File
For those that prefer a contest logger, we have a set of N1MM+ User Defined Contest (UDC) files available.
Before the Contest
Download TX-Parks.zip.
UnZip the file and follow the instructions in the README file to install the UDC.
For activators, it's recommended to set up a new log for each new park that you activate.
During the Contest
Enter QSOs as you would normally. In the exchange field, enter the state, province, or park number (for park to park).
Note: N1MM will not allow hyphens, so a park number of USXXXX format is required here (US-XXXX won't work). Any valid TX State Park numbers will still be counted toward your multiplier.
After the Contest:
Export the log in ADIF format
For activators, rename the log file to STATIONCALL@US-XXXX.adi (additional text can also be appended after the park number)
Preparing WSJTX logs for TSPOTA submission
For Activators:
Before the contest — Start with a new wsjtx_log.adi file for each park that you activate.
During the contest — use the comment field in the WSJTX log prompt to log any Park-to-Parks that you worked (in US-XXXX format).
After the contest — rename the wsjtx_log.adi to CALL@US-XXXX.adi (ex, KE5CW@US-3051.adi)
Upload your log(s) using the Log Upload page.
For Hunters:
Start with a new wsjtx_log.adi file for the contest.
During the contest, use the comment field in the WSJTX log prompt to log the park number that you worked (in US-XXXX format)
After the contest, upload your log using the Log Upload page.
Using N3FJP ACLog logger for TSPOTA
Check out the excellent instructions on the POTA website for how to configure ACLog for POTA.
Using HAMRS logger for TSPOTA
Select "New Logbook"
Give the Log a name, (like "KE5CW@US-3051")
Select the "Parks on The Air" template, then "Save"
For Activators, Once in the log, make sure you fill out the Frequency, Band, Mode, My Park, and (My) Callsign fields.
For Hunters, select the POTA Spots tab and click "Copy" on any of the US-TX State Park spots. The park, call, frequency, and band info will automatically populate for the QSO.
When ready to submit your log, click to cog next to your log in the Logbooks page and Export as .ADI
Note: If you are an activator, you can continue to use the same log, just change the MY PARK field as you move to different parks. Otherwise, you can upload multiple logs if you prefer to create one log file per park.
Using Ham2k Portable Logger (PoLo) for TSPOTA
Tap New Operation > Add Activity > Parks On The Air
For Activators
Search for the park by name or reference, then tap the park name to add to the log. A separate log will need to be recorded for each park you activate, since PoLo doesn't support switching parks in the middle of the log.
For Hunters
Select the spots tab and select a Texas State Park activator in the list. The QSO fields will be automatically populated with their park, frequency, and mode details.
To export the log, navigate to Operation > Manage Operation Logs > POTA ADIF and save the file.
Note: Check out the Tips and Tricks in the PoLo manual for shortcut commands to quickly change frequency, band, mode, etc.
